Differences=Interesting

So I have worked at my new job as an Elementary ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher for a couple of weeks now and I think I am going to love it! I am still growing through the learning curve that happens when you start something new that you have never done before. Regardless of my lack of confidence, the best part about this job is the students. They are amazing! Collectively, they represent 7 different countries. I love getting to know them. Trying to understand their family backgrounds, so I know how to best connect with them is challenging. I enjoying learning about their various cultures and the various family backgrounds within the same ethnic culture. God made us all different. Imagine what an incredibly boring, mundane world this would be if we were all the same. We would have nothing left to learn. Our differences make us interesting. We should not be fearful of others' differences, we should celebrate them! Learning about others gives us opportunity to learn and grow. As long as we are learning something new, we are growing. As long as we are growing, we are alive!
This weekend, many of my Karen students are celebrating the Karen New Year. Google it and let's celebrate!
You can read here a short description of the Karen New Year.
